Melissa has over 25 years of experience working in various high-impact roles across the healthcare and managed care industries. Most recently, as a Provider Relationship Account Manager at Carelon/Elevance, she played a key role in the daily operational health of provider portfolios, serving as the primary externally facing point of contact. In this capacity, Melissa provided extensive account management, fee schedule oversight, and revenue recovery support for high-volume behavioral health facilities, managing payer-related inquiries and translating complex updates into clear guidance. Her deep operational expertise allows her to independently handle complex claims triage, resolve billing variances, and tackle systemic underpayment trends across multi-state networks.
Melissa began her career in the healthcare industry at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, building a robust 20-year foundation as a National Claims Adjuster and Provider Claims Expert. Following that foundation, she served in leadership positions within Elevance Health as a Senior Business Change Advisor for National Commercial Claims, where she partnered with legal and compliance teams to lead large-scale regulatory and workflow redesign projects. In this enterprise-wide role, she managed complex initiatives spanning 14 states and multiple system platforms across the United States. Throughout her career, she has specialized in commercial insurance products, contract integrity, and forensic billing investigations. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a focus in Substance Abuse Counseling from Colorado Technical University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, is a Certified SAFe® Agilist, and dedicates time to ongoing professional growth through continuing education medical coding courses.
Outside of her professional life, Melissa is a massive motorsports and high-energy sports enthusiast, closely following NASCAR, IndyCar, road course, and drag racing. She particularly loves local circle track racing, motocross, and competitive go-karting. When she isn’t keeping up with the latest hockey games or intense UFC and MMA matchups, she enjoys the quiet beauty of coastal Maine, taking long coastal walks with her husband, and spending quality time with her family in Buxton.
