Roland P. Lamay, Jr.A Principal at Helms & Company, Inc., Roland has a decades-long career in healthcare. Now the President, Roland manages Helms & Company and serves as Executive Director of the New Hampshire Community Behavioral Health Association (NHCBHA). Roland has played a leadership role in the healthcare industry particularly in behavioral health, payer-provider negotiations and contracting, sales management, underwriting, employee benefit and rate development and government programs.

Roland provides clients with expertise in provider contract negotiations, physician practice management, healthcare business valuation and evaluation of commercial insurance options for employers and government agencies. He provides payer-contracting expertise to several Critical Access Hospitals including negotiations and analytic support. Roland has served the past several years as the Board Chair of Benevera Health, a unique population health company formed as a joint venture among several New Hampshire hospitals and a commercial payer.

Prior to joining Helms & Company, Roland served as the Assistant Director of Health Planning and Medicaid for the State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services. In this capacity, he was responsible for budgeting, forecasting and deficit reduction strategies for the Medicaid program. Before holding that position, he spent much of his career in leadership roles with Blue Cross and Blue Shield with responsibility for total health care spend, provider contracting, provider relations and provider credentialing.

Roland puts his expertise and passion to work in his volunteer activities as well, serving on the Board of the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute. He also serves as a Board member for the HNH Foundation and is the former Chair of the New Hampshire Healthy Kids Corporation.

His greatest achievement, however, is raising a humble, smart and compassionate teenage boy, with whom he enjoys spending time.

Roland holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bloomsburg University and a Masters of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University (formerly NH College).
